Types of Wedding Venues in Barbados

In my last post, I shared my favorite wedding venues with you. Today, I want to break down a little further the types of wedding venues you can find in Barbados. After all, I truly believe we are not living in a world where one size fits all. We have incredible beach weddings here, but we are not only a beach wedding destination. If you have been looking for some unique island wedding inspiration, today’s post is for you! As a Barbados wedding and event planner for over 10 years, I’ve experienced first hand what this island has to offer for events!

Beach Wedding Venues in Barbados

Most beach weddings in Barbados take place at a hotel (we have a wide range of options here!), but that doesn’t mean your beach wedding venue has to be a hotel! If not, you will have to seek permission for The National Conservation Commission (a government entity in Barbados). Although that might sound intimidating, it’s really not hard at all (or expensive) and your wedding planner can make the arrangements on your behalf. If you are choosing one of our beach hotels, the hotel usually makes the arrangements on your behalf.

Great Houses & Villas

I shared a few of my favorite wedding venues in Barbados here, and if you’ve checked it out, you can likely tell I have a love for some of the Great Houses we have here in Barbados. Great Houses & Villas are often a great Barbados wedding venue option, because you have a mix of indoor and outdoor space.

Depending on the venue, you may also have more freedom and flexibility than you would at a more traditional wedding venue. Your wedding planner can source the right vendors to provide all of the services/products you require for your event as some properties do not offer rentals as part of their package. Don’t worry! There are several event rental companies on the island to cater to your needs. I aim to make wedding planning in Barbados a stress free experience for all of my couples, regardless of if you choose an all-inclusive wedding venue.

Ballroom Wedding Venues

Most ballrools are attached to a hotel, and at most hotels, you must be a guest of the hotel to host your wedding on their property or secure a set amount of rooms. One thing I love about ballroom wedding venues is the reliability of it, you never need to worry about a backup plan! Plus, you can often keep the party going later without worrying about waking up other hotel guests.

Unique Wedding Venues in Barbados

Although above I have shared the “main” types of wedding venues you can find here in Barbados, I will never stop talking about some more unique venue options either. One venue I have worked in quite a few times is the George Washington House, which is a great option for smaller events and not necessarily a traditional wedding venue. I have also hosted events at The Barbados Museum, which is a great way to tie in a little bit of history and culture in your wedding venue.
